MEKK Studios is launching its very own Barber Training Academy in Ancoats, Manchester. Our Manchester barber training is designed for aspiring or beginner barbers looking to extend their skillset in a busy Manchester barbershop. The MEKK Studios barbers are experienced and skilled in a variety of barbering techniques across a range of hair types. We’d like to extend our hand and train the next generation of barbers through our training academy, crafted to develop technical ability and confidence.

When opening our shop, it was important to us that our barbers were confident across a full range of techniques and experienced in working with different hair types and textures. This remains one of our core values at MEKK, ensuring we can properly serve our diverse Manchester community.
Our barbers respect the craft of barbering - a skill that can look simple from the outside but is built on detail, technique, and consistency. Anyone can pick up clippers, but understanding how to shape a haircut properly, work with different hair types, and tailor a cut to someone’s lifestyle takes time and proper training. That’s why barber training is so important, especially for those starting out or looking to improve.
What You’ll Learn
The MEKK Barbershop Academy has been curated to include both an overview of fundamental barbering skills and detailed practice across specific techniques. MEKK Barbershop offers fade cuts, Afro-Caribbean cuts, scissor cuts, braids, dreadlock styling, comprehensive restyling services, and beard maintenance.
Each of these services requires attention to detail and refined technique to ensure every cut is tailored to the individual client’s hair type, head shape, and desired outcome. We’ll teach you how to build consistency in your trims, as well as how to advise clients on styles that suit their features, lifestyle, and routine - while also taking into account scalp health and how the style will grow over time.
